Geraniums

A wild geranium sketch and a pot of geraniums in watercolors.

‘Fair rich confusion is all the aim of an old~fashioned flower garden, and the greater the confusion, the richer, you want to come upon a mignonnette in unexpected places and to find sprays of heliotrope in close consultation with your roses, and geraniums sporting their uniforms like gay recruits off duty.’ ~Anna Bartlett Warner

The Dandelion

I find the dandelion a most beautiful plant whether coming in bloom or going out of bloom.
There are numerous health benefits to the dandelion which is a completely edible plant.

Providing antioxidants, reducing cholesterol, regulating blood sugar, reducing inflammation, lowering blood pressure, aiding weight loss, reducing cancer risk and boosting the immune system

The entire plant can be tossed in a salad, sauteed which helps eliminates bitterness, or made into coffee or tea.

Credits for this beautiful botanical drawing, Walther Otto Muller, a German botanist and gardener, (1837-1917)

Winter Roses

“Rarity gives a charm; so early fruits and winter roses are the most prized; and coyness sets off an extravagant mistress, while the door always open tempts no suitor.”
~Martial

Bouquets

“I have always thought my flowers had souls.”
~ Myrtle Reed

“Surely the flowers of a hundred springs are simply the
